Ricky Gervais Mocks the Crucifixion

Ricky Gervais' Mocks the Crucifixion

Atheist Ricky Gervais Crucified: Comedian’s Controversial Magazine Cover

People like Ricky Gervais are like children throwing a temper tantrum when they don’t get what they want. He is acting out because his childlike faith in God was shattered and instead of seeking God for truth he has chosen to blame others for his lack of faith and atheistic conversion. In a separate interview, Ricky explains how he used to believe in God as a child:

I used to believe in God. The Christian one that is.

I loved Jesus. He was my hero. More than pop stars. More than footballers. More than God. God was by definition omnipotent and perfect. Jesus was a man. He had to work at it. He had temptation but defeated sin. He had integrity and courage. But He was my hero because He was kind. And He was kind to everyone. He didn’t bow to peer pressure or tyranny or cruelty. He didn’t care who you were. He loved you. What a guy. I wanted to be just like Him.

While I understand some of Ricky’s observations about the hypocrisy of religion and Christians in particular, it is in this simple statement that Ricky reveals his ignorance, “I loved Jesus…More than God. God was by definition omnipotent and perfect. Jesus was a man. He had to work at it.” Ricky never understood that Jesus came to demonstrate to us what God is like because He “is the exact likeness of the unseen God [the visible representation of the invisible]; He is the Firstborn of all creation.” (Colossians 1:15) Ricky and millions like him have chosen to lean on their own understanding to their detriment. Instead of simply embracing what Jesus testified of God, he has allowed science, religious hypocrisy, and his own delusions to shape his beliefs.

The scriptures foretold this type of mockery in the last days, saying, “To begin with, you must know and understand this, that scoffers (mockers) will come in the last days with scoffing, [people who] walk after their own fleshly desires  And say, Where is the promise of His coming? For since the forefathers fell asleep, all things have continued exactly as they did from the beginning of creation.” (2 Peter 3:3-4)

I will personally pray for Ricky Gervais that his simple childlike faith would be restored and he would know that Jesus and the Father are everything he believed they were when he was a young boy! However, regardless of whether this happens or not, we are all responsible before God for the knowledge He has given us about himself.

For God’s [holy] wrath and indignation are revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who in their wickedness repress and hinder the truth and make it inoperative. For that which is known about God is evident to them and made plain in their inner consciousness, because God [Himself] has shown it to them. For ever since the creation of the world, His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification], Because when they knew and recognized Him as God, they did not honor and glorify Him as God or give Him thanks. But instead they became futile and godless in their thinking [with vain imaginings, foolish reasoning, and stupid speculations] and their senseless minds were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools [professing to be smart, they made simpletons of themselves].
Romans 1:18-22 (Amplified)

Ricky’s controversial cover spread and his outrageous statements will ruffle many feathers, but let us all remember that even someone demonstrating this intense level of mockery is not too far gone for God to rescue! Jesus forgave the very individuals who nailed him to the cross and left him to die. Ricky’s mockery is small potatoes.

  1. Chaim Paddaman says:

Ricky Gervais the liberal humanist who exploits the mentally disabled and vulnerable for commercial and comedy purposes. He thanks “God” that he is an atheist. So do we…….
Gervais is a yellow pussy who only hits on safe and soft targets. He now cries crocodile tears for a deceased bear. His publicist could have come up with something more creative and original. It is a an old recycled soundbite frequently used for damage limitation control.
A comedian that has to explain what he means by his gags..Sounds like Professor Dawkins. What a rancid soul.
