One in Four Believers Are “Christians in Name Only”

In an article in the Christian Post it states,

“Changing the Face of Christianity Inc., a non-profit corporation dedicated to reversing negative Christian stereotypes, has released the results of a quiz designed to determine how well Christians live the teachings of Jesus Christ. Through the quiz, the organization found that one in four self-proclaimed Christians admit that they do not live according to Christ’s teachings.”

It might seem like I’m beating a dead horse, but here is further evidence of the apostasy that is taking place in America. While there are multitudes of believers coming to Christ and being persecuted for their faith in countries in the Middle East, Africa, China and many others; American Christians have been poisoned by fake a fake gospel and a false image Jesus. The Laodicean image of Jesus standing outside of the door of the church and pleading with it to repent represents the current state of American Christianity very accurately.

Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:17-20

The time for repentance is now! Our Lord and Savior has promised restoration and fellowship and the power to be an overcomer in these end times, but we must heed the call before the time has passed.

  1. I think political correctness has bred pluralism in America and it has seeped into the Church. People are so afraid to believe they are correct…in anything. Just espouse some controversial conviction you hold, opposition to same-sex marriage, that Jesus is the only way, whatever it is, and most people will go on the tolerance attack.

Once we in the Church allowed the word tolerance to be redefined to mean approval of every belief and behavior, we have just about lost the battle.

Pastors need to step up and tell it like it is.

    • So true. Political correctness has no business whatsoever in the Church. It is completely incompatible with truth. The Church has been sliding down the slippery slope of moral relativism and political correctness for years and the fruit is now being reaped. It is nothing we weren’t warned about in the scriptures, but it is sad to see it happen.

      Thanks for commenting.

      God Bless!

      • That’s actually what upsets me the most. We are told that there will be days where people will want their ears tickled, will not endure sound doctrine. And yet some in the Church actively apologize for biblical teachings on morality. They defend their Osteen-esque teachings with arguments that they need to not be so confrontational, they need to appeal to the world more. Sickning.

      • I agree. I started getting a toothache watching Joel and Gloria Osteen being interviewed by Piers Morgan a few days ago with all that sugary gospel he was speaking. Believers should never apologizing for speaking the truth. I just think that so many people’s rebellion against the church is because the truth has not been spoken in the right “spirit.” A soft answer turns away wrath, but all too often we are too self-righteous in condemning others in the name of truth. I don’t think it’s the Church’s business to legislate morality on society as a whole, but definitely should preach, teach and live it amongst the believing community.
